Meet 52. Yes, the title of this piece is the number 52, at least that's the main title. There are 52 titles in total, one for each week of the year. I am 52 years old this year, so there's another reason. It's also fitting as a way to honor someone I am grateful for: One of the titles was taken from a poem by the wise and eloquent poet, John O'Donohue, who died in 2008 at the ripe young age of 52.
The painting is big enough that it helped get my whole body moving in the making of it. This is a 4'x4' canvas, and it began with a digital print of a photograph I took and then revisted and painted with clay paint from Bioshield in New Mexico and sumi brush pens. Since finding clay paints, I have been hooked, and there are lots of reasons. Read the full article...

"One of my solo shows in recent years was at the lively and fun Wild Goose Creative in Columbus. It was an honor to gather and display a lot of fresh and some re-vamped, old work and meet the new parents of a paintings, photographs and prints. I look forward to exhibiting at Wild Goose again!"

Just for Fun:
A mural from 1990-ish
Many decades ago, my parents announced that they were going to be stripping wallpaper in a room in the house we'd grown up in. Somehow, that gave my brothers, Ian and Alan, and I the idea that we would all go home to visit and paint a mural on the wall. Xactomundo, long-time friend and artist, also joined in.
This is one of the few surviving pictures of the mural - that's my mom reading a story to my nephew, Ryan, who is now in his 30s. Mom and Dad painted over the wall soon after, giving the piece that quality of a sandcastle washed away and probably making me say "AWWW!" (Did I really think they were going to keep that mural in their living room?")

The River of "I Exist"
July 4th, 2022
These are images of 6 painted windows in our classroom here at True Nature. Together, they create an interconnected mural on the south-facing side of the room. Like stained glass, their colors vary depending on light, season and weather. Shown in order, they are a visual story of the alchemy of waking up from our everyday sleep and more fully-participating in life. You can buy individual canvas prints by clicking each image. (The third window is not finished, so prints are note availble yet.) Get more details & buy prints.
